NEW MEMBER

GNOEA has gained a new member into our association, Jim Hudson with Iberiabank. Both he and Tom Tappan will share the Classification “Bank”.

Please let us all take a few minutes before the meetings to welcome him!

MURIEL’S HOLIDAY PARTY

GNOEA will hold our Holiday Party at Muriel’s Restaurant this year on December 13th from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The cost will be $50.00 per person, which will include two drinks and various hors d’oeuvres. Please let Susan know if you plan on attending and how many will be in your party!

TODAY’S PROGRAM

Today we were pleased to have as our speakers, Joe Azzarello, Marcus Azzarello and Ken Plaisance with Franklynn Pest Control. Franklynn Pest Control Company was incorporated in 1969 by Joseph Azzarello, Jr. after receiving a B.S. degree in Entomology from Louisiana State University. In 1975, Mr. Azzarello earned a master’s degree in Public health from Tulane and became the only Board Certified entomologist in the pest control industry in Louisiana.

The company provides pest control, termite control and fumigation services to residential, commercial and industrial customers. Franklynn also provides insect and disease control for lawns, trees and shrubs. They also provide consultation services as it applies to urban and industrial entomology.

The subject of their PowerPoint presentation was “BEDBUGS”.  With all the recent talk of bed bug infestation in hotels, there has been an increasing amount of interest in how to effectively kill bed bugs. The bad news is that once you have spotted a bed bug infestation, controlling the spread is almost impossible without the help of a professional.

If you think you might have a problem, please contact Joe Azzarello, Franklynn Pest Control at Azzarello@franklynnpestcontrol.com. We wish to thank everyone at Franklynn Pest Control for taking the time out of their schedule to speak to us.

TODAY’S PROGRAM

Our program for today was a business presentation by Michael Fredrick, owner/senior web designer with Point2Point Innovations and Blaine Brown, Project Manager, point2point Innoviations. Michael has eleven years experience in the field of web design. point2point provides quality Web site design, development, e-mail & Web hosting, and domain name services to clients around the globe.

Michael’s presentation showed our members how to use Google Apps, which is a Web based e-mail, calendar, and document management system. Many companies and organizations use Google Apps as their e-mail solution because of the large storage space, spam protection and ability to login from anywhere with a Internet connection.

He also should us WordPress which is a popular Content Management Systems (CMS) that allows web site administrator, from the secretary that answers the phone to the top level executive, to easily add and edit text, images and video on their Web site.
