Bulletin–2012-05

February 14, 2012

HOLIDAY

GNOEA will not have a breakfast meeting on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 due to the Mardi Gras Holiday. GNOEA will meet again on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at the Rose Garden of Jefferson.

I hope everyone will have a great holiday.

GUESTS

Today we had the pleasure of having as our guests, A.J. Vallon with Vallon Realty, Lori Ramsey and Wesley Ramsey, all guests of Robert Ramsey, Ramsey’s Diamond Jewelers. Also, we had as our guest Timothy Scott, Fisher & Phillips, guest of Michael Mitchell, Fisher & Phillips.

PROGRAM

Our program today featured GNOEA Members’ Edward McCloskey speaking on “Will” & “Succession Planning” and Michael Mayhall, The Mayhall Law Firm speaking on “Federal Estate Tax Law”.

Edward McCloskey’s program featured “Wills” and “Estate/Succession Planning”. As time permitted, Edward went over the highlights of what should be done to prepare your Estate for your passing. Even if your estate is modest, you should maximize any inheritances to your heirs by having a “Will”. Your estate consists of “probate” and “non-probate” assets. Probate assets pass by virtue of your will and consist of one-half interest in community property and all separate property. “Non-probate” assets pass by some means other than a will.

Michael Mayhall spoke on the current tax laws pertaining to inheritance that will no longer be in effect and what new tax are being put in place.

For more information on either of these topic, please contact Edward McCloskey at 504-267-3122 or Michael Mayhall at 985-246-1700. Thank you to Edward and Michael for a very informative program.

November 29, 2011

LAST NIGHT’S VISITATION

DENISE BERTHIAUME

LEMIEUX GALLERIES

Last night GNOEA held a night time visitation at Denise Berthiaume, LeMieux Galleries. Her gallery was beautiful and everyone had a great time. She served wine, beer and an assortment of hors d’oeuvres.

GNOEA wishes to thank Denise for welcoming us and letting us hold this event at her place of business. We know that there is always extra work and expenses to hold these events. Thank you!

NIGHT TIME VISITATION

ROBERT RAMSEY

RAMSEY’S DIAMOND JEWELERS

GNOEA will not have a breakfast meeting next week, December 6, 2011, but we will have a night time visitation with Robert Ramsey, Ramsey’s Diamond Jewelers, 5700 Veterans Blvd, Metairie, LA from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

The rules for attendance at any visitation are the same as the attendance at our breakfast meetings. If you cannot attend, please call or email to me let me know.

MURIEL’S HOLIDAY PARTY

GNOEA will hold our Holiday Party at Muriel’s Restaurant this year on December 13th from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Muriel’s requires that I purchase a certain amount of food and the more members we have attending the party, the cheaper it will be. The cost of $50.00 per person is a worst case scenario only.

I currently have 41 people signed up to attend the party and hope those that have not signed up yet will do so soon! Please email me if you plan on attending and how many will be in your party!

ELECTIONS

Congratulations to the following three members who were elected to serve on the Board of Directors for the next eighteen months:

Congratulations to all of them!

NEW MEMBER
