Entergy Update

Jimmy , is the customer service manager for Entergy Louisiana. He was born and raised in Jefferson Parish and attended Brother Martin High School. He graduated in 2007 and attend the University of Southern Mississippi on a Presidential Scholarship. He returned to the New Orleans area in 2012 and began his career working in the Entergy Sector with Superior Entergy. He transitioned to the Food and Beverage Sector working for 8 years before being hired into his current role with Entergy in 2023. When not working he enjoys spending time with his family, watching his daughter dance and his boys play sport.
Jimmy informed the GNOEA members the updates at Entergy Louisiana. Entergy Louisiana is a separate entity from Entergy New Orleans. Entergy Louisiana cover the 58 parishes throughout Louisiana and is regulated by the Louisiana Public Service Commission. Entergy is currently working on making the power grid in Louisiana stronger. In April 2024 the LPSC approved a 1.9 Billion, 5 year phase for a resiliency plan. With 1.8 million for transmission and distributions lines, 172 million for vegetation management, 100 million telecommunications and 88 million for dead end structures. This will reduce customer outages tremendously. In Jefferson Parish, Entergy is investing 233 million will be going into Jefferson Parish from the LPSC approved funds.
There is a Meta Data Center being built in Monroe Louisiana over the next four years. It will be the largest data center. Entergy is building 7 substations to power the data center along with its own power plant. The data center will support 500 new direct job in that parish and more than 1000 indirect jobs for a total of more than 1500 jobs in north east Louisiana. The data center will be completed by 2029 covering 4 million square feet.
