Delgado Community College

Dr. Larissa Littleton-Steib has served as Chancellor of Delgado Community College since July 2019, bringing over two decades of higher education leadership experience to her role. She previously held key positions at Delgado, including Vice Chancellor for Workforce Development and Executive Dean of the West Bank Campus. Prior to returning to Delgado, she served as Chancellor of Baton Rouge Community College, where she expanded enrollment, business partnerships, and student transfer opportunities. Dr. Steib is dedicated to student success, focusing on access, retention, and workforce alignment. She actively collaborates with business and industry to ensure Delgado’s programs meet regional economic demands. As a member of the Committee of 100 and the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce Board, she plays a vital role in connecting education to industry. A proven leader in program development and grant acquisition, Dr. Steib has secured and managed millions in external funding. Under her leadership, Delgado’s Maritime and Industrial Training Complex earned federal designation as a Center of Excellence. She has strengthened partnerships with major organizations, including Ochsner Health, LCMC Health, Apple, Amazon, PepsiCo, and Mercedes-Benz. In 2021, she led a $44 million collaboration with Ochsner to develop a state-of-the-art health care education facility, which opened in 2023. Dr. Steib has elevated Delgado’s profile, improving facilities across its five campuses and enhancing the student experience. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she implemented safety measures and wellness initiatives to protect the Delgado community. Her leadership has driven Delgado’s annual economic impact to over $588 million.

Dr. Littleton spoke to the GNOEA members about the status of Delgado Community College and the changes that are being implemented. She informed the members that Delgado has one of the largest nursing programs in the Country and the top program in the state. Delgado has the only funeral services program in the state as well. There are 5 Delgado campus’; two on the Westbank, City Park, and two in New Orleans East. Enrollment averages approx. 13,000 for credited course. Delgado’s credits are also transferrable to any four year institution. All faculity members hold Ph.D’s.
