The Affordable Care Act and its Impact on the Medical Insurance Marketplace

GNOEA members attended an in-person breakfast meeting on November 16th with guest speaker Duaine Duffy, Founder of Benefit Analyst, LLC.

Duffy provided insight on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) signed into law by President Obama in 2010, the most significant regulatory overhaul and expansion of coverage since the Medicare and Medicaid Enactment in 1965.  He highlighted the positive and negative impacts of the ACA and its effects on the marketplace. His presentation included an overview of the different types of Group health insurance plans, how they are funded and the various ways coverage is underwritten.
