Thanks to member George Messina for catering this week’s networking event at Rooftop on Basin.

The Foundation, formed 30 years ago, as a 501(c)3 organization, serves as a public-pirate partner with UNO and is led by Ms. Conwell.  Located near the UNO campus, the newly rebranded research park “The Beach at UNO, a Sandbox for Collaboration” creates an environment that is entrepreneurial and community driven, where people come together to solve complex social, scientific and business breakthroughs for the New Orleans and Gulf region. With a focus on five initiatives, they are currently working on renewable energy projects such as offshore wind turbines. Wind turbines would be positioned in the Gulf of Mexico but not without challenges. In comparison to other wind farms, the Gulf of Mexico presents challenges such as hurricanes, the difference in soil, water and wind and ensuring that marine and wildlife are not impacted.
