TODAY’S GUESTS

Today we were pleased to have as our guests, Tom Riley, guest of William “Bill” Dalton, Firefly Digital, Inc.

INDUCTION OF NEW MEMBER

Today GNOEA had an inductions ceremony for newest member Dr. Troy Patterson with Oak Family Dental under the Classification of “Dentist, General”. Proposer, Marc Beerman introduced Dr. Patterson and presented him with a GNOEA Gold Lapel Pin, a GNOEA binder and a framed Certificate of Membership.

Dr. Patterson thanked Marc and all of our memberships for making him feel welcome.

PROGRAM

Our program for today was Mr. Charles Rice, President and CEO of Entergy New Orleans, Inc., a $750 million a year electric and gas utility company. Mr. Rice is responsible for the company’s financial and operational performance, customer service, regulatory and governmental relations, economic development programs, external and internal communications, charitable contributions and environmental policy. At the core of his operational responsibilities is management of the company’s electric and gas distribution systems to New Orleans customers.

He spoke about the LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program), which is a program that provides money to help individuals with energy bills and other energy-related expenses.

Mr. Rice spoke about the ways you can make your home or business more energy efficient. The U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory provides methods that can be used to help estimate how much power and potential energy savings a solar system could produce and some simple steps you can do around the house such as adjusting your thermostat, caulking doors and windows, and adding insulation can make a big difference on your energy bill. Check out www.entergyneworleans.com/savemoney for more tips and online tools for energy savings.

We would like to thank Paul Cosma, Uptown Auto Specialist for arranging for Mr. Rice to speak to us and Mr. Rice for taking the time out of his business schedule.
