THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY

GNOEA will not have a breakfast meeting on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. Our next breakfast meeting will be on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Ralph’s on the Park.

I hope everyone will have a great holiday!

 

HOLIDAY PARTY

Bill Ello, Special Events Committee Chairman has arranged for us to hold our Holiday Party at the “The Chicory” located at 610 South Peters Street, New Orleans, LA 70130 on December 4, 2012 from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm in the Lafayette Room, (504) 521-8055.

The Lafayette Room overlooks Lafayette & Fulton Streets and includes a 2,000 square foot balcony. The “Chicory” will provide for us an unlimited open “Call Brand” bar and passed hors d’oeuvres. Parking is available on South Peters and Lafayette Street or in the Harrah’s parking garage.

PROPSECTS FOR MEMBERSHIP

Brian David, Garrity Print Solution is currently going through our membership process. If approved, he will share a dual membership with Kevin Alker, Garrity Print Solution under the classification of “Printer”.

Also, Kenny Knobloch, Help! Air Conditioning & Heating was proposed for membership by Rene Dupaquier under the classification of “A/C & Heating”, David Bourgeois, My IT was proposed for membership by Allan Bissinger under the classification of “Computer Network Consultant” and Stoney Ware, APYXX Technologies was proposed for membership by Joe Azzarello under the classification of “Document Imaging”.

So please take a few minutes at the next breakfast meeting to meet with them.

 

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Board of Directors will meet on Tuesday, November 27th, immediately following the breakfast meeting at the Ralph’s on the Park. All Board Members and Committee Chairman should attend. All members are welcome.

 

CHANGE OF VENUE

Please make a note that starting in January 8, 2013 we will switch our meeting locations from the Ralph’s on the Park to the Rose Garden of Jefferson. We hold our meetings at the Rose Garden of Jefferson for the months of January, February and March.

 

PROGRAM

Today we had the pleasure of having as our guest speakers Ricky Mathews, President & Publisher and David Francis, Vice President Business Manager/Human Resources, both with NOLA Media Group.

NOLA Media Group encompasses NOLA.com and The Times-Picayune, both supported by the same trusted news staff and creative ad teams. They are a digitally focused news organization that produces three substantial newspapers a week and a website that offers up-to-the-minute coverage of what’s happening around our community and the world.
Advance Central Services Louisiana provides production, distribution, purchasing, accounting, circulation and technology assistance to NOLA Media Group.

We wish to thank both Mr. Mathews and Mr. Francis for visiting with our association.

 

NOMINATION COMMITTEE

The following members have been appointed to serve on the Nominating Committee: Stanton Murray as chairman, Joey DiMaggio and John Benton.

The committee would like to recommend the following members to serve on the board of directors beginning January 1, 2013 as Bryon Hatrel with Edward Jones, Malcolm Ehrhardt with the Ehrhardt Group and Tom Tappan with Iberiabank. Additional nominees will be taken at the November 27th breakfast meeting. Please remember that a member must in be GNOEA for two years before they can serve on the board and additional nominees must be present.

The Committee also announced its recommendations for President-Elect as John Lagarde. The Board of Directors will take additional nominees at the November 27th board meeting. Any one nominated for the position of President-Elect must have served a full term on the board of directors and must be present at the November 27th board meeting.
