HOLIDAY PARTY
Bill Ello, Special Events Committee Chairman has arranged for us to hold our Holiday Party at the “The Chicory” located at 610 South Peters Street, New Orleans, LA 70130 on December 4, 2012 from 7:00 pm until 10:00 pm in the Lafayette Room, (504) 521-8055.
The Lafayette Room overlooks Lafayette & Fulton Streets and includes a 2,000 square foot balcony. The “Chicory” will provide for us an unlimited open “Call Brand” bar and passed hors d’oeuvres. Parking is available on South Peters and Lafayette Street or in the Harrah’s parking garage.

PROPSECTS FOR MEMBERSHIP
Brian David, Garrity Print Solution is currently going through our membership process.  If approved, he will share a dual membership with Kevin Alker, Garrity Print Solution under the classification of “Printerâ€.
Also, Kenny Knobloch, Help! Air Conditioning & Heating was proposed for membership by Rene Dupaquier under the classification of “A/C & Heatingâ€, David Bourgeois, My IT was proposed for membership by Allan Bissinger under the classification of “Computer Network Consultant†and Stoney Ware, APYXX Technologies was proposed for membership by Joe Azzarello under the classification of “Document Imagingâ€.Â
So please take a few minutes at the next breakfast meeting to meet with them.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Board of Directors will meet on Tuesday, November 27th, immediately following the breakfast meeting at the Ralph’s on the Park. All Board Members and Committee Chairman should attend. All members are welcome.
NEW MEMBER
Recently, GNOEA has gained two new members into our association, Robert Weinmann, Veterans Ford under the classification of “Automotive Dealer†and Todd Clower, Harbor Towing & Fleeting under the classification of “Marine Towing & Fleeting. Please, let us all take a few minutes to welcome him!
PROGRAM
Today we had the pleasure of having as our guest speakers Chef John Besh and his business partner Octavio Mantilla.
John Besh is a chef and a native son dedicated to the culinary riches of southern Louisiana. In his restaurants, entrepreneurial pursuits, and public activities, he preserves and promotes ingredients, techniques, and heritage one mouth-watering dish at a time.
From the outset of his career, Besh’s talent and drive have earned him continual kudos: Food & Wine named him one of the “Top 10 Best New Chefs in America,†and he won the coveted James Beard Award for Best Chef of the Southeast in 2006. His nine acclaimed restaurants (August, Besh Steak, Lüke, Lüke San Antonio, La Provence, American Sector, Soda Shop, Domenica and Borgne) each celebrate the bounty and traditions of the region in their own unique way. His flagship restaurant, August, is a Gayot Top 40 Restaurant and a Wine Enthusiast Top 100 Restaurant, in addition to being nominated in 2012 for the James Beard “Best National Restaurant†award.
Octavio Mantilla was born in Nicaragua and moved to New Orleans as a child. At sixteen, he got his first job in a restaurant and has worked his way through all the managerial levels. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Tulane University and an MBA from the UNO. He helped open Harrah’s Casino & Hotel in New Orleans, then to St. Louis as Harrah’s Director of Food Operations and has opened numerous fine dining restaurants for Harrah’s nationwide. Octavio returned to New Orleans to be reunited with his old friend, Chef John Besh, at The Besh Steakhouse in Harrah’s. Octavio joined John as a partner in The Besh Restaurant Group, running Restaurant August, Besh Steak, La Provence, Lüke, American Sector, Domenica, Lüke San Antonio, Soda Shop and Borgne— combining his vast experience in restaurant operations with a passion for customer service.
We wish to thank both of them for a wonderful program.
TARDINESS
It has been noticed that certain members are constantly tardy or leave early at our meetings. The board would like all members to know this behavior is disruptive to the meeting, so please in the future try to make the necessary allotment of time. The board does understand that occasionally emergencies may come up, but try not to make it a habit.Â
NOMINATION COMMITTEE
The following members have been appointed to serve on the Nominating Committee: Stanton Murray, John Benton and Joey DiMaggio. If you would like to be nominated or would like to nominate someone to serve on the Board of Directors, please contact a member of this committee.
Nominations for Board of Directors will be made public at the November 27th weekly breakfast meeting.  Nominations will be accepted from the floor. If no more than three members are nominated, then they will automatically be elected. Â
If more than three people are nominated on November 27th, then a ballot will be composed including all nominees. On December 11th at the regular breakfast meeting, GNOEA will have an election of three members to serve on the board of directors. The Executive Director shall record each yea, nay and abstention into the minutes in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order.
The Chairman of the Nominating Committee (Stanton Murray) shall not be entitled to vote except in the case of a tie vote.
