Bill holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in economics and finance from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, as well as a Master of Business Administration and Doctorate in management from Louisiana State University.

Louisiana Calling is a nonprofit organization supported by a coalition of passionate people and committed organizations from all corners of the state and beyond. Their first priority is making sure everyone recognizes the many opportunities available in Louisiana. Louisiana Calling’s multi-year public messaging campaign, resources and strategic partnerships will help Louisianan to discover and learn about the many pathways to career and financial success.


Guest Speaker – Michael Williamson, President & CEO, United Way

Today we had the pleasure of having as our guest speaker, Michael L. Williamson became President and CEO of United Way of Southeast Louisiana (UWSELA) serving Jefferson, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington parishes.

Williamson provided overall management and leadership to the UWA Hurricane Response and Recovery Fund developed in Hurricane Katrina’s wake. Under Williamson’s leadership, United Way has developed a Blueprint for Prosperity with a framework to eradicate poverty in southeast Louisiana.

United Way has a bold vision of equitable communities where all individuals are healthy, educated, and economically stable.  Williamson has ensured UWSELA is strategically investing in programs, initiatives, collaborations and advocacy efforts to meet the greatest needs. This year United Way is funding 78 programs in 54 agencies

Guest Speaker – D. Scott Crabtree, Lambeth House

D. Scott Crabtree is the Chief Executive Officer and President of Broadway Services Inc. a Louisiana non-profit corporation. BSI is the operator of Lambeth House, Inc., a registered continuing care retirement community in New Orleans. BSI oversees all operations and strategic planning for Lambeth House and its affiliate corporations (St. Anna’s, Lambeth House Foundation and Lambeth House Inc.). He joined BSI as the CEO/President in 2003. He has worked in the senior living industry since 1992. Prior to that, from 1982 until 1992, his career was dedicated to healthcare administration in the specialty hospital sector.

Mr. Crabtree obtained his Bachelors of Science (1980) and Masters of Science (1982) from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Guest Speaker – Rafael Goyeneche

Mr. Goyrafael-goyenecheeneche has served as president of the New Orleans Metropolitan Crime Commission Inc. (MCC) for the past 20 years.

The MCC was established on February 19, 1952, and has provided assistance on a continuing basis to the New Orleans-area community for over 50 years.Rafael Goyeneche, degree from Louisiana State University and his juris doctorate from Loyola Law School. Upon graduation from law school, Rafael served as an assistant district attorney in Orleans Parish between 1980 – 1986.

The MCC’s goal is to fight crime and corruption in the metropolitan area with a strategy of investigating wrongdoing, being a conduit for citizens to report information, supporting legislative initiatives, and by bringing accountability and transparency to the criminal justice system through research.

Guest Speaker – Andy Kopplin, Greater New Orleans Foundation

Andy KopplinAndrew “Andy” Kopplin currently serves as president and CEO of the Greater New Orleans Foundation. He previously served as First Deputy Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer for the City of New Orleans under Mayor Mitch Landrieu from 2010-2016. In this capacity, he oversaw the day-to-day operational functions of City Hall. Kopplin previously worked at Teach For America, where he served as senior advisor to the Founder & CEO Wendy Kopp.

Mr. Kopplin holds a bachelor’s degree from Rice University; a master’s in public policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, and is a 1986 Harry S. Truman Scholarship winner.

We wish to thank Mr. Kopplin for taking time out of his busy scheduled to speak to our association!

Guest Speaker – Tony Ligi, Executive Director, Jefferson Business Council

Tony LigiTony Ligi currently serves as executive director of the Jefferson Business Council, an organization which consists of 57 owners and chief executives of major Jefferson Parish Businesses. He has served in that position since January of 2013.

Prior to his service with the JBC, he served as state representative for District 79 in the Louisiana House of Representatives. During that time, Tony was a member of the House Appropriations Committee, House and Senate Joint Budget Committee, Audit Advisory Council, House & Governmental Affairs Committee, House Committee on Municipal, Parochial and Cultural Affairs and the House Retirement Committee. In his final year in the legislature, he served as chairman of the Republican House Delegation.



Guest Speaker – Todd Murphy, Jefferson Chamber of Commerce

Murphy, A native of Metairie, La., Todd is President of the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce.  Todd has been in this full time role for nearly four years and is the primary spokesperson for the organization driving advocacy, membership development, and marketing.  Since taking the lead of the Chamber representing businesses of the largest parish in the region, the organization has taken several notable public policy and legislative positions; grown its membership and high investor revenue by more than 20%; and received a four-star Accreditation from the US Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, the Jefferson Chamber was honored as the most outstanding Chamber in the State of Louisiana in both 2013 and 2015 by the Louisiana Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives.  In 2014, Todd received the Champion of Economic Development Award from the Jefferson Economic Development Commission, (JEDCO).

Todd currently serves on the boards of GNO, Inc. and the Louisiana Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives. Additionally, he has held leadership roles in numerous civic and business organizations throughout our region.

Todd holds a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University with minors in Economics, Management, and Speech Communication. Additionally, he is a 2006 graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at LSU. Todd is married to the former Keri Robin and has two LSU tigers, Kaci and Kelli.



Guest Speaker – Emily Madero, The IDEA Village

Emily Madero, acting CEO of The Idea Village, moved to New Orleans as an undergraduate Tulane student prepared for an adventure. She graduated with a BA in Spanish and Psychology, MA in Spanish and Latin American Studies, and a love for New Orleans. After co-founding several start-up ventures, Emily returned to Tulane’s Freeman School of Business. Katrina reinforced Emily’s connection and commitment to the people and the culture of New Orleans. She became President of the Tulane’s Entrepreneurs Association and was a leader in the development of IDEAcorps™, a partnership between The Idea Village and Tulane University. The Idea Village CEO reports to the Board of Directors, and is responsible for the organization’s consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives. The CEO provides strategic leadership by working with The Idea Village Board and staff to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies.

Guest Speaker – Augusto Cookie Rojas, New Orleans Zephyrs

Augusto Cookie Rojas

Augusto “Cookie” Rojas joined the New Orleans Zephyrs as Senior Vice President and General Manager, while former General Manager Mike Schline has been named the team’s Vice President of Baseball Operations.

Rojas comes to the Zephyrs following an 18-month stint with Learfield Sports as the General Manager for Brown Bears Sports Properties at Brown University in his native Providence, R.I. He has an extensive background in minor league baseball, having spent eight years as General Sales Manager with the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox. During his tenure with the Red Sox, his sales team achieved record highs in tickets sold and revenue generated.
