CHANGE OF VENUE

There has been another change in our breakfast meeting locations. The Rose Garden of Jefferson informed us that they will not be able to accommodate us on January 15th due to a previous scheduled event. It was then decided by our officers to remain at Ralph’s on the Park for the January 8th and January 15th breakfast meetings. Therefore, GNOEA will not begin holding its breakfast meetings at the Rose Garden of Jefferson until January 22, 2013.

PROGRAM

Today we were pleased to have as our speakers Ron Blitch with Blitch/Knevel Architects and Hank Tatje with Argote, Derbes, Graham, Shufield &Tatje. Their program informed us on the progress being made with the new Louisiana State University (LSU) Academic Medical Center, which is designed to replace the 68-year-old Medical Center of Louisiana at New Orleans (MCLNO). The projected $1.2 billion facility is part of a medical district which includes a new United States Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, currently under design.

Project Scope: new academic medical center, including 424 patient beds, five trauma rooms, 76 emergency department stations, 26 Behavioral Health stations , 23 operating rooms, eight interventional suites, 186 clinical exam rooms, 31 treatment rooms, eight CT and four MR scan rooms, 68 conference/class rooms.

Hank Tatje stated that the value of the surrounding properties has not changed yet, but he expected a big increase in value with surrounding properties when the hospital is closer to completion.

Thank you to both Ron & Hank for a very informative program.
