Louisiana Representative Nicholas Lorusso

Our speaker for today was Louisiana Representative Nicholas Lorusso.Â

In October 2011, Nick was re-elected for a second four-year term and was appointed by the Speaker of the House as the Chairman of the Special Committee on Military & Veterans Affairs and Vice-Chairman of the Retirement committee.Â Nick currently serves on the Appropriations, Insurance and Retirement committees. Â He has also served on the Civil Law & Procedure, Criminal Justice, Judiciary, House & Governmental Affairs and Ways & Means Affairs committees.Â He was also appointed as a member of the Governorâ€™s Military Advisory Committee and the Battle of New Orleans Bicentennial Commission.Â Â Â In 2012, he received the Legislator of the Year award from the Louisiana Fraternal Order of Police.

Representative Lorusso gave us an update on the recent ruling by a Baton Rouge judge on the private tuition voucher program being unconstitutional and also on the upcoming Fiscal Cliff.
