Lee Zurik, News Anchor – Fox 8

GNOEA met via Zoom on Tuesday October 27, 2020 for organization updates and to hear from Lee Zurik, Fox 8 News Anchor and Reporter. Lee leads Gray Television’s National Investigative Team and also works as an Evening News Anchor and Chief Investigative Reporter at Gray’s New Orleans television station. Lee has been honored with journalism’s top honors including two George Foster Peabody Awards, three Alfred I. duPont Silver Batons, nine National Edward R. Murrow Awards, and the Investigative Reporters and Editors Medal. Lee is a New Orleans native and a graduate of Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Lee shared information on what he considers his most memorable investigative reporting focusing mostly on corruption involving government funded non-profit organizations.

Bylaw Amendments

An email will be sent to members listing two bylaw amendments that were approved by the board and now must go before the membership for approval: 1) an inclusion statement recommended by IEA and reviewed by GNOEA’s Labor Attorney Tim Scott; 2) and to remove the executive directors role as check signer on the account since not a GNOEA employee. There will be an open discussion period prior to the November 10th board meeting (immediately following the general meeting) and a voting ballot will be sent by email.
