Dr. David Mushatt – Tulane School of Medicine

GNOEA met via Zoom on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 for organization updates and understand the impact of the COVID-19 vaccine. Dr. David Mushatt, Assistant Professor of Medicine & Section Chief at Tulane’s School of Medicine, shared the latest updates on where we are in terms of the pandemic and administering the vaccine.  There are one hundred sixty million proven cases globally  but cases are down by thirty percent, along with a reduction in deaths, since the vaccine has been administered. He strongly encouraged getting the vaccine explaining that it will avoid new variants of the virus that are more transmissible and more deadly. He recommended getting the LA Wallet App (https://lawallet.com/) where you can obtain your Louisiana Digital Drivers License with photo and access the Department of Health to verify that you have had the COVID 19 vaccine.

Jacquie Bonano, JB Communications, announced that she and Catherine Shreves worked together on the Bayou Phoenix proposal and public relations campaign – https://bayouphoenix.com.  Today is the day for public comment and the decision for the New Orleans East Six Flags Redevelopment.  She encouraged all to submit comment and support for Bayou Phoenix.  Public comment form opens today 10am – 1pm. Jacquie will email the link for distribution to the membership and expressed her appreciation for your support.

Marcus Azzarello, Franklynn Pest Control wished all a Happy Mother’s Day. He reminded all that Formosan termite season has begun.

Julie Couret, 7602 Business Performance, announced that Valerie Legras, Interior Designer, was approved by the membership. Valerie thanked everyone for voting her in and commented how she enjoyed meeting members at the recent crawfish boil. Valerie gave a brief overview of her design company saying that “transferring your home into making it who you are…tells a story”.

Brien Lundin, Jefferson Financial, Inc. thanked Valerie for joining and Cynthia Widlitze for her efforts in recruiting new members.
