Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport Update

Kevin Dolliole, Director of Aviation

Dolliole, started his aviation career at Armstrong International Airport and now with forty plus years of experience in various facets of the aviation industry, Dolliole is once again at the helm of Armstrong International. He applies advanced, innovative approaches to air service development, customer service initiatives and construction project management.  He effectively manages operational, organizational, and development initiatives like the one billion dollar airport terminal that opened in fall 2019. Under his leadership, MSY has earned several awards, and was ranked as the number one large airport in North America for customer satisfaction based on J.D. Power’s 2021 North America Airport Satisfaction Study.

Armstrong International is the largest airport within 350 miles, next to Houston. The airport reported 13.6 million passengers pre-COVID and is currently tracking at 83% of the 2019 numbers and is the fifth fastest growing airport in the country. Enhancements at the new airport include, increase in free WIFI services, increased parking with built in curbside check in at the garage for all carriers except Southwest Airlines.  He suggested that when parking at the airport to visit flymsy.com for real time parking availability.

Dolliole announced that there are sixteen airline services with the newest service provided by Breeze Airlines, that travels to Charleston and Richmond. MSY is one of their five bases in the U.
S. Silver Airways will begin weekly service to Jacksonville in June and Alaska Airways will begin service to Portland late 2022.

In the works:

  • Dolliole reported that nearly all airport shops and restaurants have reopened since COVID but staffing continues to be an issue.
  • Expected completion of the interstate flyover is Q1 2023.
  • Baton Rouge/New Orleans rail service
  • Airport Master Plan currently underway
  • Old airport will be repurposed for aeronautical centered operations.

Dolliole attributed the airports success to the staff and the good relationship with its tenants.
