GREATER NEW ORLEANS EXECUTIVES ASSOCIATION
September 25, 2012
NO BREAKFAST MEETING
GNOEA will not have a breakfast meeting on Tuesday, October 2, 2012.
Our next breakfast meeting will be on Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at Ralph’s on the Park and our speaker will be Louis Capo with the Orleans Levee District.
CHANGE OF VENUE
Please make a note that it is time again for us to switch our meeting locations from the Rose Garden of Jefferson to Ralph’s on the Park. We will be at Ralph’s on the Park for the months of October, November and December.
Our first speaker, Philip Rebowe with Carr, Riggs & Ingram, LLC shared some updated information on the BP Claims process and clarified some deadline dates for claims as April 1, 2014. Another deadline to opt out of the class action settlement would be November 1, 2012.
Our second speaker was Rene Dupaquier with Crane Builders of New Orleans. Rene explained that the majority of his business is renovations and his preferred job would be historic renovations. He mainly renovates in the Metairie and New Orleans area, but has on occasion ventured out in the surrounding areas. His business has been up with a steady growth. He has noticed that many of his clients are returning New Orleanais, moving back after Hurricane Katrina. What has changed in his business is the trust between his business partners by knowing each other’s strengths. A good lead would be a referral on a residential historic type of structure and his tip of the day would be to hire the correct licensed contractor for the project, such as hire a dry wall contractor for a dry wall project.
Our third and final speaker was Bill Dalton with Firefly Digital which is a website development company based in Lafayette, Louisiana. They were founded in 1998 and most of their clients (over 400) are from across southern Louisiana area, but a few dozen throughout the country. One recent change in his business is the sale of software for the charter school lottery systems which sets parameters for selection of students. A good lead would be anyone looking to start-up or change their website.
We wish to thank all of speakers for a very informative program.
As most of you know, some of our members have been trying to join a GNOEA Business Group for some time, but have been unsuccessful due to the fact that most of the Business Groups are content with their current membership. Robbie Ventura has graciously agreed to help organize a new Business Group with the help of Michael Mitchell and Robert Ramsey acting as mentors for the group. Here are some of the members that have already signed up to join this business group; Robbie Ventura, Stanton Murray, Kevin Alker, Bryon Hatrel, and Charlie Eshleman.
If you would like to find our more information about joining a Business Group or would like to join one, then please email me at [email protected].
Recently, GNOEA has gained a new member into our association, Dr. Troy Patterson with Oak Family Dental and his Classification is “Dentist, General”.
Please, let us all take a few minutes to welcome him!
